Colorado Hybrid Bluegrass is The Sod Guy’s custom blend of sod specifically formulated for the Rocky Mountain Region. Rhizomatous Tall Fescue

Texas Hybrid Bluegrass
The Texas Hybrid blend is a hybrid blend of Texas Bluegrass and Kentucky Bluegrass formulated for high heat and drought tolerance for lawns with high traffic. It offers the lush green look of Kentucky Bluegrass while maintaining the durability for high temperature environments and using less water than typical Kentucky Bluegrass. Fine Fescue
Fine Fescue sod specifically selected for superior shade. Fine Fescue a fine blade grass provides a soft, fine-textured lawn that performs well in lower-light environments and low traffic areas that need a beautiful natural look for Colorado properties. Grass Plugs
Grass plugs spread in Colorado by producing above-ground runners called stolons. Stolons creep across the soil surface, rooting at nodes to form new plants. When planted 12–18 inches apart, these plugs can fill in to create a solid, dense, drought-resistant and low-maintenance lawn in one season, typically within 3–4 months during warm summer months.
Dog TuffTM Bermuda Grass
Dog Tuff™ is a Bermuda Grass that comes in a plug form. Dog Tuff is a grass The Sod Guy is offering to address the WaterWise movement to reduce water on lawns.
Dog Tuff was named based on its ability to hold up to dog traffic and dog urine which most grasses will not. It is also a very low maintenance grass with only needing to be watered 1-2 times a month once it is completely established. Mowing is reduced and not needed if you don’t mind your grass at 3-4 inches long. Legacy® Buffalograss
Legacy® Buffalograss installed in plugs, is specifically selected for exceptional drought tolerance and improved from other blends of Buffalograss to withstand higher traffic. Colorado Hybrid Bluegrass Seeds
Colorado Hybrid Bluegrass Seed is the seed from our blend of sod. It is available at both our Parker and Colorado Springs locations by the pound. It can be used to start a lawn from a seed or use it to overseed some areas that have been damaged. One pound will cover 500 Square feet for overseeding and 250 Square Feet for a new lawn. Using other seed blends may not match your current lawn if installed with The Sod Guy sod.
Shady Place Seed
Shady Place Seed is a seed blend designed to do better in shaded areas. If areas are not getting a sufficient amount of sun (4 hours/day minimum) the grass may thin out over time. Shady Place Seed introduces other grass types such as Fescue and Rye along with our Colorado Hybrid Bluegrass Blend to help an area in a shady place grow better and blend in with the existing lawn. You can also use it to establish a new lawn as well. You may notice differences in blade type where this is used to overseed a thin area, but it will blend in good with your existing lawn. One pound will cover 300 Square Feet for overseeding and 150 Square Feet for a new lawn.
Mychorriza (MYKE)
Mycorrhiza or MYKE for short is a product used to apply to the top of the soil after it has been prepared and before you lay the sod or plant the grass. The product helps with the uptake of water and nutrients to the root system of the newly installed sod or grass. It will assist in an overall better and faster establishment of the new sod or grass. The Sod Guy uses this product on all sod installations. MYKE is available at both our Parker and Colorado Springs locations in half pound and one pound containers. Half pound covers 1000 Square Feet and one pound covers 2000 Square Feet.
Jirdon Fertilizers
The Sod Guy offers Jirdon Fertilizer and Winterizer formulated for the Rocky Mountain Region. The fertilizer is formulated to assist overall growth, color and density of your lawn. It also assists in reducing overall alkaline salts in the soil while keeping the nutrients available for a healthier lawn. The Winterizer is formulated to assist in getting your lawn through the cold winter months and assist in early spring green-up.
TurfMAX
TurfMAX is an organic soil treatment designed to soften hard compacted soils and provide the necessary nutrients to promote a healthier lawn. It will also help correct the pH in your soil. TurfMAX can be used to prepare your soil prior to installing sod or grass and can also be used to apply over an existing lawn to help soften hard compacted soils. A 37lb bag covers 50 square feet.
Ground Breaker
Ground Breaker is a product designed to soften hard soils. It is primarily used on lawns that are already established but are struggling to retain water do to hard compacted soils. Lawns that are heavily sloped may have significant runoff during watering due to these conditions and struggle as an outcome. Ground Breaker will soften the soil and allow water to be retained, reducing the runoff. It comes in a liquid form that is attached to a hose to apply the product and then it will need to be watered in. The application bottle and refill bottles are available at both our Parker and Colorado Springs locations.
Sod Knife
Sod Knife is used to cut the sod to conform to the size and shape of your yards. These knives come with a curved blade that makes it easier to cut the sod to your dimensions. Sod Knives are available at both our locations. Remember to cut the sod on the dirt side.
